DSF Consulting, a woman owned small business founded by Dr. Diane Staehr Fenner and based in the Washington, DC area, specializes in the achievement of English learners (ELs) in K-12 settings in the United States. At DSF Consulting, we believe that ELs bring numerous linguistic and cultural strengths to the educational arena. To that end, we draw upon our team’s experience as EL classroom educators, policymakers, researchers, and administrators to offer our clients numerous services to foster the achievement of ELs. We provide EL expertise to school districts, state education agencies, state consortia, professional organizations, research organizations, universities, and museums to ensure that ELs are an integral part of the conversation – not an afterthought.
At DSF Consulting, we support ELs, their families, and those who educate them so that these students, who comprise the fastest growing segment of students in the US, will succeed. We are especially concerned about the implementation of the Common Core State Standards for ELs and are lending our expertise on several projects at the state and national levels to ensure that ELs can successfully access the challenging content of the Common Core.
Since we are in the mix of what is happening around the nation in terms of the Common Core for ELs, Diane is also blogging for the Colorín Colorado website on the topic. Diane’s upcoming book titled Advocating for English Learners: A Guide for Educators is now available for pre-purchase here at Corwin Press.
